14.4 Qal Perfect 1G, 2G

Wherever the strong paradigm calls for a Sheva, the Guttural will take Hateph Patach instead

• 1G - affects QP2mp and QP2fp
  • NOT עְמַדְתֶּם*, BUT עֲמַדְתֶּם
  • Otherwise, \(V_1 = \bar A\) as is diagnostic of the QP conjugation
• 2G - affects QP3fs, QP2fs, QP3cp
  • NOT בָּחְרוּ*, BUT בָּחֲרוּ
  • In 2G, \(V_1 = \bar A\) (unless reduced in 2mp/2fp) as is diagnostic of the QP conjugation

To get back to the strong verb paradigm with a guttural, substitute Sheva for the Hateph vowels
